My solution is to get a camera pouch or just use the wrist strap and carry it in your hand. Pictures are vibrant and clear with the automatic settings in normal daylight and cloudy weather.I like this camera even more than the A300 because of the optical zoom and higher MP(3.2 vs 7.1) and I would recommend it for anyone looking for an entry level point and shoot camera. If I had to complain about something, it's that this model is a little bulky compared to all the new compact models out there, not a problem for me, but it's not a pocket-friendly camera, my girlfriend can't fit it in her small purse (between the Garmin, iPod touch, BlackBerry, and her glasses there is no room in there). This is the 2nd Canon I've owned, the previous one was a PowerShot A300. I loved the A300 so much, and the A470 only added to my satisfaction with Canon. It has plenty of setting to tweak under the Manual Shooting mode that let me get great shots even at night or indoors with low light. I'm dropping one star because of the size and the fact that the lens sticks out and can get stuck on its way in /out of my pockets.
We have only had it a short time but have been very happy with this purchase. All the pictures came out very fine.I give this camera a high rating. This was our first digital camera and it was a birthday gift for my spouse. We live in Las Vegas and visited the strip to take some pictures including a volcano and a water show.
Go figure. Why buy this or anything hereIf they wont stand beside their sale 42 yr old Aerospace worker with tons of camera experience. New batteries, etc.Still wont take a picture. Here for a week. Absolute junk. won't work. Furthermore Amazon return window is too shortLose 20% of cost on return.
I never got around to returning it, I'm not quite sure if or when I can. I got this as a gift and it broke quickly. The person who I gave this camera to ended up getting a better camera from someone who was replacing theirs.
For the price it's hard to beat. He was delighted to learn that there is a small video capability, too. Gave this camera to my son right before a trip. It takes good photos - not professional, but more than fine as a keepsake of a memorable trip. The memory card that comes with the camera is teensy, so getting an inexpensive memory card is a must - and easy to do.
